TOUGH BATTLE: Economist Echodu Joins Eastern Uganda NRM’s CEC Race

Echodu’s declaration on Wednesday, April 02, 2025, at Protea Hotel in Kampala City is the latest pronouncement that has sent huge political shockwaves and distress to the incumbent Captain Mike Mukula and others eyeing the same position into a political distress.

The race for the ruling Nation Resistance Movement-NRM party National Vice Chairperson, Eastern Uganda, has attracted Soroti City’s philanthropist, David Calvin Echodu.

“I am ready to bring new energy to the party and ensure that the region gets better representation at the national level,” says Echodu.

Echodu’s declaration on Wednesday, April 02, 2025, at Protea Hotel in Kampala City is the latest pronouncement that has sent huge political shockwaves and distress to the incumbent Captain Mike Mukula and others eyeing the same position into a political distress.

He said the people of Eastern Uganda deserve fresh leadership that prioritizes their needs.

This announcement sets the arena for a clash of giants; Mukula declared a month ago that he is ready to retain his seat, and Tororo’s Sanjay Tana is most likely to enter into the fray, although he has so far kept his cards close to his chest. And all these are heavily loaded individuals with the passion to serve the NRM Party.

Echodu took Soroti City West by storm when he contested for the NRM Flag in the last general elections, with many city voters referring to him as Mr. Dollar.
