The Roots of Catherine Kusasira—”Old is Gold” Music Concert Shakes Kampala as Pro-NRM Artist Sets New Record

After battling rejection among her fans across Greater Kampala a few years ago when she openly identified with the ruling National Resistance Movement, singer Catherine Kusasira’s heavenly sent fortune came true during the Friday night thrilling concert held at Sheraton Hotel Gardens in Kampala.

Finally, the legendary female artist was able to successfully harvest millions of shillings due to her unwavering support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party during her concert dubbed “The Roots of Catherine Kusasira – Old is Gold.”

Thanks to her consistency in mobilizing for the NRM government within Buganda, a region that was once conquered by the faded opposition National Unity Platform party and others.

Kusasira, who is a strong supporter of the ruling party, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and Prime Minister Robinnah Nabbanja, received over UGX 60 million from them.

In the speech delivered by the State Minister for Youth and Children’s Affairs, Balaam Ateenyi Barugahara, President Museveni gave the singer Shs30 million and paid for her stage, lighting, and music system in appreciation for her support and loyalty.

“I congratulate you, my daughter Kusasira Catherine, for organizing a successful concert, especially the Bazukulu, for supporting her music career and attending the concert in big numbers. I have contributed a total Ugx30million, paid for the stage, sound, and light for tonight’s concert,” the president’s speech read.

While delivering the Prime Minister’s speech, the Minister for Kampala, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, said that she was supporting her because she has also been a great supporter of the NRM party.

“Thank you for coming to this event. I am here to represent the Prime Minister, Robinnah Nabbanja, in this concert. She sends her love and thanked you Kusasira. We know Catherine Kusasira as our person, and that is why we are here today to support her. We support her because she also supports us. She has given her UGX 30m as her contribution,” Prime Minister Nabbanja’s message read.

The bummy singer had artists like GraceNantongo, Sophie, Carol Nantongo, Haruna  Sophie Nantongo, Mubiru, the Afrigo band, Ronald Mayinja, Mesach Ssemakula, Maureen Nantume, Betty Mpologoma, Mariam Ndagire, and Madrat and Chiko show up to support her by performing for the crowd their various songs.

Singer Sophie Nantongo thanked Kusasira’s fans for turning up in big numbers to support her and announced her upcoming concert as well.

“Thank you for supporting Catherine Kusasira. I call upon you who love me to come support me in May,” Nantongo said.

She took the crowd through her songs like Poko Poko, Sweet Wange, Ekitiibwa Ky’abaami, Wafuka Bikadde,Kambasalize, Ssi Ddogo, Mr. Handsome Enkola Ya Taxi, Society Enongoseemu, Amanda, Bwosiba Face,Obeerawo, ,Maama, Bawe, and many more.

The concert attracted renowned people like ONC’s Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, Honorary Consul Geoffrey Kirumira, Rita Kaggwa, and several socialites and business people.
