Tayebwa Calls for Revival of Kigezi Golf for tourism

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has asked the people of Kigezi to bring back the glory of golf in order to draw visitors who may generate revenue for the nation through tourism.

He made this remark while opening the annual White Horse Inn Golf tournament in Kabale on December 27, 2023.

Tayebwa stated that it is an underutilized sports competition that deserves attention because it has the potential to attract high-net-worth tourists to Uganda.

He also stated that one of the challenges we face is that tourism generates little revenue, compared to other countries.

“One of the challenges we are facing is that our tourism is bringing in little money; we can attract wealthy tourists through golf, and generate revenue for the country, so let us come revive the glory of golf in Kigezi,” Tayebwa said.

The tournament is an annual event held on December 27th that draws both local and international golfers.
