Police in Kisoro district have launched an intelligence-led investigation to apprehend the group masterminding the increasing vandalism of road signs and rail guards in the area.
According to ASP Michael Kushaba, the Kisoro District Traffic Officer, several road signs have been vandalized within a short period of time.
ASP Kushaba says the ongoing investigations aim at apprehending the suspects.
He noted that vandalism has been highly recorded along the Kabale-Kisoro-Bunagana highway.
“The probe focuses on apprehending the individuals responsible for systematically removing and stealing road signage, potentially disrupting critical transportation guidance systems,” ASP Kushaba said.
Kushaba suspects scrap metal dealers to be behind the increasing destructive illegalities.
“They are essential guides that, when followed, can significantly improve road safety for everyone. Understanding and obeying these signs is crucial for the safety of all road users, especially pedestrians.”
The probe underscores the serious commitment to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring road user safety in the district, Kushabe stated.
