Police Hunts for Suspected Gun Robbers in Otuke District

Police in Otuke are hunting for suspected robbers who stole a gun from a police officer attached to Otuke Central Police Station (CPS).

Police has identified the victim as Paul Ochuli, who lost his gun to unknown people on September 17, 2023, at his point of guard at the Electoral Commission offices in Otuke district.

The Police preliminary report indicates that, Ochuli was working night duty while guarding at Electoral Commission offices when unknown people attacked him during the wee hours of the night and hit him on the right-hand side of the head, where he sustained deep injuries, and a gun taken.

According Sadak Sabila, the Otuke DPC, investigations are ongoing, adding that, Ochuli and other impartial witnesses, as well as officials of the District Electoral Commission have already recorded statements.

DPC, OC Station, OC CID, CI, and SOCO, among other concerned parties have approved the crime and visited the scene.

The Police have urged the public to be aware of the serious danger that comes with known criminals’ possession of illegal firearms.

By February 2023, Police had recovered 30 guns of the 38, and 545 live bullets of the 705 that had been stolen from security personnel by criminals.
