Recent police investigations revealed that mobile money agents are increasingly targeted due to inadequate security measures.

On October 30, 2024, at around 4:00 am in Lusalira village in Mitete sub-county, Sembabule district, four individuals suspected of stealing coffee narrowly escaped death at the hands of an angry mob in Sembabule. The situation escalated as locals took matters into their own hands, demonstrating a growing frustration with crime in the area.

The 2022/2023 Annual Crime Report indicated that Luwero district, along with Kassanda, has been identified as a hotspot for mob justice incidents. The report noted that many victims are often suspected thieves or robbers, reflecting a community tendency to take the law into their own hands rather than relying on formal judicial processes.

On August 24, 2024, Pulinali Semanda, a businessman in Kalisizo, was ambushed and robbed of UGX 150 million shortly after withdrawing cash from Centenary Bank. The robbery was executed by armed men who held Semanda at gunpoint with an AK-47 rifle while one of the suspects took the money from his car.
