The annual retreat for National Resistance Movement party members of parliament and some independent legislators has kicked off at the National Leadership Institute-Kyankwanzi.
While briefing the legislators on the focus of this year’s retreat on Sunday, May 28th, 2023, the Government Chief Whip, MP Denis Hamson Obua, said they would discuss issues of wealth creation with the aim of enhancing household wealth.
Obua said this year’s retreat is organized under the theme “Increasing Household Incomes and Wealth Creation: The Critical Role of the Leader.”
He said within the 10 days, the MPs shall review the country’s economic trends, performances, and scores, among others, and they will also be reviewing progress scored in the implementation of the NRM Manifesto 2021–2026 sectoral priorities.
According to Obua, the retreat will also focus on the role of the leaders in enhancing household income, wealth creation, and the social and economic transformation of the country.
On Sunday, the MPs numbering over 350, started their day’s activities with prayer sessions led by Rev. Charles Onen, also an MP from Gulu City. The legislators prayed for peace, stability, and rain.
During the retreat, the MPs will be receiving lectures on opportunities from various trainers on wealth creation to enhance household incomes among Ugandans.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Vice President Maj. (Rtd.) Jessica Alupo, and senior government officials are also in attendance.
