President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, brought energy, humour and a strong development message to thousands of supporters at Kizinda Playground in Bushenyi District.
He urged them to protect the peace and progress the NRM has built over the last four decades.

The First Lady, Mama Janet Museveni, set the tone with warm praise for the district’s impressive transformation.
She said the well-built homes, neat farms and organised government projects visible from the air showed a community that has embraced development.
“You people of Bushenyi, even from the sky your development is shouting. Keep it up,” she joked, drawing loud cheers.
She reminded voters especially the young to value the peace they were born into. Most of you didn’t see the chaos we went through. So please, don’t sit home on voting day. Go and vote so that peace stays,” she urged.
Taking the podium, President Museveni mixed humour with firm warnings against divisive politics, citing Sudan as a cautionary tale.
“You play with tribalism; the country burns. You see what happened in Sudan. Here, we stopped that nonsense early by building a strong army and police,” Museveni said.
The President listed key achievements in Bushenyi and neighbouring districts, including improved security, expanded schools and steady growth in health services.
Bushenyi now boasts 151 government-aided primary schools, 16 government secondary schools and more than 200 private institutions, which Museveni said reflect rising household incomes.
In the health sector, he announced several upgrades: Kajunju and Kashenyi Health Centre IIs will become Health Centre IIIs, three new Health Centre IIIs will be constructed and one Health Centre IV elevated to a district hospital.
On infrastructure, Museveni confirmed that repairs on the worn Mbarara–Bushenyi section of the highway will begin soon, noting that the funds and contractor are already in place. He also reaffirmed plans to build the Kitabi–Kitagata–Rwamabondo road.
Addressing inconsistent electricity supply, he wondered—half joking—why lights still flicker in some areas.
“Generation is enough. So who is playing tricks with the wires? I’m going to find out,” he teased.
Museveni used the rally to push for wealth creation, urging residents to adopt commercial agriculture, especially the four-acre model.
He cited success stories of farmers using dairy, coffee, poultry and piggery to transform their incomes.
For those with large land, he encouraged tea growing, noting that export opportunities remain strong and highlighted job creation through industrial parks, revealing that the Mbale Industrial Park alone employs 12,000 people and that government is securing land for a new industrial park to further expand employment.
Wrapping up, Museveni urged Bushenyi residents to guard the gains and give the NRM another mandate in 2026.
“With your support, we shall finish the journey of prosperity,” he said, leaving supporters chanting and waving yellow flags.
