MUNYAGWA REMANDED TO PRISON OVER LAND FRAUD

State House Anti- Corruption Unit in liaison with Uganda Police have on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, arraigned FDC die hard and former Kawempe South MP, Mubarak Munyagwa.  Together with his four partners in crime, they have been remanded to Luzira prison.

The five appeared before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrates Court on charges of Criminal Trespass, Malicious Damage, and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, where Chief Magistrate Doreen Karungyi remanded them all until June 12, 2023.

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Munyagwa conspired with a man named Isa Sekitoleko and fabricated a sale agreement to give the impression that he had bought a kibanja measuring 3 acres in Mutungo Cell, Kajjansi Town Council.

The Anti-Corruption Unit stated that Munyagwa went ahead and graded the land, destroying the crops there and dividing it into plots, yet the title to the land is held by a registered company known as Dechomai Asset Trust Number Three LCC.

The other four remanded are Isa Sekitoleko, Paddy Kabuye, Joweria Nakafero, and Godfrey Buwembo. Chief Magistrate Doreen Karungyi remanded them all until June 12, 2023.

Mubarak Munyagwa is a Ugandan politician affiliated to the Forum for Democratic Change party. He is the former Chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE). He is also the former Member of Parliament for Kawempe South for the term 2016–2021.
