Men have been called to embrace a spirit of generosity and redefine fatherhood beyond biological ties, during the Men’s Conference held on Saturday, May 30, 2025, at the Anglican site in Namugongo.

Samuel Bakutana, President of the Church of Uganda Fathers’ Union, addressed the gathering under the conference theme: “Imitating God’s Goodness by Doing Good” (Galatians 6:9–10).

He emphasized that the heart of a man is what truly qualifies him as a father not his appearance or physical strength.

“The heart of a father is a giving heart. Give to your children. Give to your wife. It’s not always about money. Sometimes, it’s about giving your time, your attention, and your presence,” Bakutana said.

He challenged men to examine their lives, urging them to prioritize their families and live generously.

“Many men today have biological children but have never truly qualified to be called fathers,” he added.

Quoting scripture, Bakutana stressed that God looks at the heart, not outward appearances noting that every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but God weighs the heart.

The Men’s Conference follows the Anglican Youth Conference held a day earlier, moderated by Bishop Pons Ozelle of Nebbi Diocese, as part of the ongoing Martyrs’ Day celebrations.
