Uganda’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga has officially endorsed a corporate entity uniting digital content creators across the country.
The Federation of Uganda Social Media Influencers Limited launched on Wednesday, March 26 th, 2026, at the Uganda Media Centre is intended to recognize the influence and economic potential of Uganda’s digital creators.
Kabyanga, who presided over the ceremony on Wednesday, March 26 th, 2026, at the Uganda Media Center, endorsed the new federation and urged all associations of digital content creators across the country to unite under one umbrella body.
“We call upon all associations of digital content creators in Uganda to come and work together with one heart for unity and development,” he said.
The federation’s formation follows earlier engagements with government leadership.
On March 18 th, 2026, Kabyanga disclosed that he had hosted media personality Edson McKats and Edson Kirabira, representatives of the federation, who presented official registration documents confirming the body’s status as a limited company.
The registration was completed through the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, signaling a major step toward structured and formal representation of Uganda’s vibrant digital content industry.
Kabyanga highlighted plans for countrywide seminars to train creators and showcase Uganda’s potential on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and others.
The launch comes amid broader government initiatives to adapt to the evolving media landscape, where social media and digital platforms now play a central role alongside traditional media.
The federation is expected to register members nationwide and work closely with bodies like the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and other relevant ministries.
