Gov’t to Launch Digital Transformation Roadmap

The government, through the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and National Guidance, is set to launch a Digital Transformation Roadmap.

Aminah Zawedde, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of ICT, said this will ensure that all government processes are automated to reduce cumbersome procurement processes, human error, inefficiencies, and the dark shadows of corruption which has continued to impede development.

“With ICT-driven transparency, every taxpayer’s money is accounted for. This isn’t just a fiscal achievement; it translates directly into hospitals receiving timely equipment, schools getting necessary resources on schedule, and infrastructure projects completing without undue delays,” said PS Aminah while addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre on Monday, August 14th, regarding the launch.

She added that although ICT is important in creating efficiency and transparency to create economic growth, in these times it should also be viewed through a different lens: ICT as a life-saving force.

“Imagine a scenario where essential goods, life-saving drugs, or critical infrastructure projects are delayed or derailed due to cumbersome procurement processes. The repercussions aren’t just monetary but between life and death,” she said.

The event will take place on August 17, 2023, at the Kampala Serena Hotel, and Vice President of Uganda, Maj. (Rtd.) Jessica Alupo, is expected to preside over the launch.
