The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has launched the 2024/2025 FUFA Drum Draws in partnership with MTN, whose edition comprises 16 provinces.

The launch took place on July 29, 2024, at the FUFA complex in Mengo, Kampala. It was graced by the FUFA Drum organizing committee Chairperson Rogers Byamukama, who remarked on the importance of the competition, saying that it has highlighted talent that was previously forgotten or overlooked.

“As FUFA, we are proud of the strides we have made in the FUFA Drum. The tournament has showcased the passion of football in various parts of the country and led to the creation of several teams, such as Kitara FC Hoima. The tournament is unique and gives a sense of belonging to every Ugandan, and we believe that the 2024 edition will be bigger and better,” he said.

John Paul Okwi, the MTN sponsorship events manager, said that the FUFA Drum is one of the events that galvanizes the entire country, and as MTN, they have a lot in stock to ensure that the celebrations are upheld.

“As MTN, we celebrate heritage, and we urge fans to watch out for prizes and opportunities up for grabs. We shall be using MTN Momo Pay for easy ticket purchases and discounted tickets as we rally throughout the 16 provinces,” he said.

Eric Malinga, the brand manager for Nile Special, noted that, as a brand, Nile Special has always supported local sports in the country and pledged to always support.

“As Nile Special, we decided to support the sport starting from the grassroots all the way to the top, and this is the only way we can get the game to where we want it,” he noted.

The FUFA Tournament will kick off on August 24, 2024, with Group A, which consists of West Nile province, Acholi province, and the winner between Bugishu and Karamoja. Group B with Lango province, Buganda, and winners between Ankole and Sebei. Group C with Busoga province, Kigezi province, and winner between Bunyoro and Rwenzori.
