Fire Destroys Busabala Bar, Property Worth Millions Lost

A fire has burned down the New Go Dawn Pub in Busabala and destroyed property worth millions.

This incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. on June 6, 2024, along Busabala Road in Gangu A village in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality. It is alleged that it was burned down due to the high voltage of electricity.

During an interview on June 6, 2024, one of the workers of the pub, Winnie Nakimera, said that electricity went off at 5:00 am as they were working, and they decided to go to sleep. They were later woken up by the pub security guard, who said that the pub was on fire.

Nakimera alleges that the fire might have been caused by a frying machine that was unintentionally left on, and when the electricity came back with a high voltage, it burned it, and the fire spread throughout the pub.

‘’All things like the DJ music box, music systems, refrigerators, and many other things were burned and destroyed by the fire; however, no one was hurt,’’ Nakimera revealed.

Stella Birungi, the owner of the destroyed pub, said that she received a call at around 6:40 a.m. from one of the workers about her pub being burned down. However, she is happy that no one was harmed by the fire.

‘’When I reached the scene, the first thing I asked was if everyone was okay, and I was told no one was hurt. I am grateful that the neighboring houses and buildings did not catch fire either,’’ Birungi said.

Additionally, another local, Ali Lukyamuzi, thanked the government for working on the Busabala road because the fire brigade arrived on time and stopped the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings.
