Deputy Speaker Tayebwa Attends Belgian King’s Day Celebration, Reaffirms Uganda-Belgium Ties

Kampala, Uganda – Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa and his wife joined Belgian Ambassador H.E. Hugues Chantry and the Belgian community to celebrate King’s Day 2025, extending congratulations to King Philippe and emphasizing enduring partnerships.

Tayebwa represented Uganda’s government, alongside Chantry, Belgian expatriates, and distinguished guests, honoring Belgium’s national day.

The event featured festivities and speeches highlighting cooperation in education, water and sanitation, renewable energy, and skills development, with Tayebwa pledging deeper ties for sustainable growth.

Held last evening on November 12, 2025, ahead of Belgium’s official King’s Day on November 15.

At the Belgian Embassy in Kampala, a hub for diplomatic engagements, which seeks to celebrate the longstanding friendship since diplomatic relations began, fostering mutual prosperity amid Belgium’s 21-year development support in Uganda.

Through high-level attendance, speeches, and commitments to ongoing projects like Enabel’s initiatives in sustainable agriculture and education.

Tayebwa remarked: “Last evening, my wife and I had the pleasure of joining H.E. Ambassador Chantry echoed the sentiment, noting Belgium’s commitment to Uganda’s National Development Plan.
