She made these remarks while speaking to over 10,000 young people at the South Rwenzori Diocese Youth Convention, held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese District on Friday, 9th January, 2026.

Col. Nakalema emphasized that Uganda’s youth are the nation’s most valuable investors, telling the crowd that they are the architects of the country’s future, whose energy, dedication, and skills have the power to transform lives and build a better Uganda.

“You are remarkable investors, your efforts and investments can transform lives across Uganda. Seeing such a turnout today is truly inspiring,it shows you are already mobilized and ready to work for a better nation,” the SHIPU Head said.

Col. Nakalema urged young people to develop key personal qualities that would help them thrive both personally and professionally.

“Obey your leaders, work as a team, and always be prepared to face challenges while striving to improve and move forward,” the SHIPU head emphasized.

“Be flexible, embrace improvement, and always be conscious of time because time lost can never be regained,” she added.

Col Nakalema also highlighted the role of government programs in equipping youth with skills to contribute meaningfully to national growth.

She mentioned the Presidential Skilling Project as a key initiative designed to empower young Ugandans to improve their livelihoods.

“I want to thank H.E. the President and Maama Janet for prioritizing young people. Everything they do is planned for your benefit,” Col. Nakalema said.

In addition to personal discipline and skills acquisition, Col. Nakalema linked youth empowerment to broader national stability, reminding the audience that disciplined, skilled, and responsible youth are critical to sustaining development.

Bishop Nason Baluku of the South Rwenzori Diocese thanked Col. Nakalema for her address and prayed for Uganda’s continued peace, stability, and prosperity.

As Uganda seeks to strengthen national development, initiatives that equip young people with skills, discipline, and civic responsibility remain essential.
