A twelve-year-old girl who has been missing for four days has been found dead in a swamp near her home in Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso district.
Her body was discovered on November 29, 2024, by locals in Ggangu C village, Masajja sub-county, Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso district.
Initial reports indicate that the deceased, whose name was withheld, is a primary five pupil of Masajja Primary School who had been missing since November 25, 2024, after she was kidnapped from her father’s home by an unidentified man masquerading as her father.
While speaking to the media, one of the neighbors of the deceased, called Claire Nasirumbi, revealed that a search ensued on the day she was kidnapped; however, on November 26, 2024, her kidnappers started asking for a big ransom for her release.
’’Her parents had promised her kidnappers to wait for the ransom money today; however, we were shocked to find her dead and dumped in a swamp near her home,’’ Nasirumbi reported.
John Kato, an uncle to the deceased, said that his niece was tricked by an unidentified man that her father had sent for her in Gangu at his workplace, yet it was a lie because her dad works in Kampala.

Kato urged the police to look into the matter after kidnap cases in Wakiso had become rampant, with various cases involving ransom demands, murder, and even familial involvement.
’’This year of 2024, Wakiso district has had many kidnapping cases, so police should look into this matter because now it is a threat in the country,’’ Kato stated.
The situation in Wakiso remains critical as local authorities continue to address these alarming trends.
In July 2024, Kajjansi Territorial Police rescued a 1.5-year-old child by the name of Lucas Sserwadda, who had been kidnapped by a housemaid by the name of Prossy Nakijja, who had been living with the family of her victim for two weeks. The child was found safe after the parents reported the incident, demonstrating effective police response in such cases.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threats posed by kidnappers in Wakiso and underscores the urgent need for law enforcement to address these rising criminal activities effectively.
