UNEB to Withhold School Results Over Outstanding Arrears

The Uganda National Examinations Board directed all schools with outstanding balances to clear in order to access the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results.

Education minister Janet Museveni officiates the release of the 2024 PLE results at Nakasero.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has revealed that several schools will be blocked from accessing the results portal due to failure by administration to clear outstanding balances.

During the official release of the examination results on January 23, 2025, at State House Nakasero, Jennifer Kalule, the UNEB Spokesperson, said that the board has been forced to block all schools with arrears from accessing the results portal.

“Only schools that have cleared their invoices will be able to access the results immediately after they are released by the Education Minister,” Kalule said.

In her submission, the minister mentioned that the UNEB portal indicates many schools have outstanding balances, with some accumulating unpaid invoices dating from 2017.

The Uganda National Examinations Board directed all schools with outstanding balances to clear in order to access the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results.

Kalule clarified that printed copies of the results will only be available to Municipal, District, and City Inspectors of Schools starting Monday, January 27, 2025, urging officials to refrain from visiting the board’s offices before the specified date.

According to the UNEB Executive Director, Dan Nokrack Odong, 418,750 girls (52.5%) and 378,709 boys (47.5%) were registered in 2024, showing that more girls completed the primary education cycle than boys.

As done in the previous years, parents and learners have been provided a convenient Short Message Service (SMS) to access results. By typing the PLEIndex number of the candidate and sending it to 6600, parents can retrieve their children’s results instantly at a limited few, and this applies across all telephone networks.

The results, which will be officially released today by Janet Museveni, the Education Minister, have been submitted to a four-week window for clearance of errors.
