Speaker Among Calls for Improved Regional Cooperation at EALA Meeting

The Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, has urged the representatives at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to embrace the vision of a united East Africa free from barriers to trade, movement, and cooperation.

Among made these remarks on Friday, October 18, 2024, while meeting with representatives at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to prepare for their upcoming sessions at the Parliament of Uganda.

“I urged all of you to focus on policies that promote regional trade, facilitate the free movement of people and goods, support infrastructure development, and harmonize regulations across member states,“ she said.

She emphasized that strengthening and deepening integration is crucial to unlocking the full potential of our region and achieving the goal of an inclusive, borderless East Africa that benefits all citizens in Uganda.

Among also met with the Public Service Commission and asked them to absorb staff affected by the ongoing rationalization of government agencies.
