President Museveni will be traveling to Bugisu sub-region this week, as part of his ongoing assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM). This program aims to enhance wealth creation among citizens.
In a phone interview with Hajj Faruk Kirunda, the Presidential Press Secretary on Monday, December 16, 2024, he said that President Museveni will begin his official duties in Bugisu on December 17, 2024. He added that his visit will wrap up with a public rally on December 19th.
According to Kirunda, during his tour, the President plans to meet the PDM beneficiaries in Bulamubuli, Manafwa, and Bududa districts. He will also engage with local leaders and technical staff at Mbale Secondary School. On December 19, he will address a public rally and is expected to commission the Bugisu Presidential Industrial Skilling Hub.
On December 20, 2024, President Museveni will serve as the chief guest at the Bugisu Youth Symposium, held at Mbale Secondary School, before taking a festive holiday.
According to the Presidency, these tours aim to promote the Four-Acre Model, the PDM, Emyooga, and other government livelihood initiatives as effective means for wealth creation.
President Museveni’s visit to Bugisu follows his recent assessment of PDM in the Karamoja and Sebei sub-regions, where he commissioned the National High Altitude Training Centre in Kapchorwa and the Sebei Zonal Industrial Hub to support youth talent and skills development.
