The Territorial Police in Oyam District conducted a targeted operation based on credible intelligence to disrupt criminal activities involving stolen motorcycles. The police raided Ajali Opoo Village in Adel Parish, Minakulu Sub-county, after reports surfaced of a group dismantling motorcycles and altering number plates at the residence of Calvine Ayen, a local resident.
This development was confirmed on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, by Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Regional Spokesperson for North Kyoga, in an official statement.
According to Okema, officers conducted a thorough search of Ayen’s residence under the supervision of the LC1 Chairperson and local community members.
“The search uncovered approximately forty motorcycle number plates, carefully buried in a nearby banana plantation,” Okema revealed.
He added that police also seized a box containing spanners and various tools commonly used to dismantle or modify motorcycles.
However, further investigation led to the discovery of three bundles of dried opium alongside other items linked to criminal activities. Although no arrests were made during the raid, police confirmed that several suspects connected to the case are known to the authorities and that efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.
Okema urged residents to collaborate closely with law enforcement to ensure the swift capture and prosecution of those involved in these illegal activities.
