The leaders of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) have expressed their disappointment with the President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, for allegedly aiding the security forces in arresting Col (Rtd.) Dr. Kizza Besigye from Nairobi in Kenya on November 16, 2024.
While addressing the press at PFF headquarters on Katonga Road, Nakasero, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the party spokesperson, said that Besigye’s arrest from Kenya was “a joint security operation between Museveni and Ruto,” something he said violates both local and international law.
In protest of what he called “regional dictatorship,” Ssemujju declared that the leaders at Katonga will walk to the Kenya High Commission on Monday, November 25, 2024, to express their dissatisfaction over the alleged illegal arrest of their leader, Besigye, and the 36 FDC members.
Francis Mwijukye, the PFF deputy treasurer, said that the first institution to be petitioned is the people of Uganda because they need to know that their money is being misused by Museveni’s army to travel and stay in Kenya and arrest their people.
“Both Ugandans and Kenyans should understand that the two presidents, such as Ruto and Museveni, are becoming too problematic in the East African Community. The people should do something to get rid of them for regional peace,” he said.

Harold Muhindo, the Bukonzo East Member of Parliament, said that when he visited Besigye in prison, he expressed his disappointment to the Ugandan government institutions, saying that they didn’t follow the law when arresting him. To Besigye, “He would have first been arraigned in the Kenyan court, like in the case of Jamil Mukulu, who was arraigned in Tanzania’s court and then transferred to Uganda.”

However, Dr. Korir Sing’Oei, the Kenyan Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, has since denied allegations implicating the Kenyan government in the abduction of Kizza Besigye, adding that “such is not the act of the Kenyan government.”
The mystery of Dr. Besigye’s disappearance in Nairobi comes on the back of 36 FDC Katonga members arrested in Kisumu four months ago and clandestinely handed over to the government back home.
