The Minister of State for National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga, has called for strategic and sustainable digital transformation across all sectors to drive economic growth in Uganda.
This was during Kabyanga’s opening remarks on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the inaugural National ICT Summit happening from October 23-24, 2024, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
During his speech, Dr. Kabyanga said that Uganda has a private sector-led economy and stressed that embracing digital technologies will help enhance productivity and promote inclusive development in the various sectors.

The two-day summit, organized by the ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU), has featured a panel discussion focused on building and interconnecting Africa’s digital backbone to enhance economic competitiveness through scalable infrastructure.
Elizabeth Ntege, the Chairperson of ICTAU, said that Uganda is on a path to generating more direct employment opportunities, which will enhance livelihoods and significantly contribute to the country’s GDP growth.
The National ICT Summit serves as a pivotal platform for stakeholders to forge strategic alliances and share actionable insights aimed at advancing Uganda’s ICT sector.
