Florence Nabutone, a local resident of Bukoda Zone Kasasira Town Council in the Kibuku district who benefited from the Parish Development Model program, has continued to record huge fortunes, making her able to earn a soft livelihood.
Nabutone, a piggery and poultry farmer, was recently visited by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while on a tour of wealth creation to assess the implementation of PDM in the Bukedi region.
When President Museveni toured her farm, she only had six pigs, but within a period of one month, Nabutone received a big fortune when one of her sows (female pigs) delivered a total of nine (09) piglets.
According to Nabutone, she was excited after receiving the piglets, something which has boosted and restored her hope in piggery farming.
On Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, over 70 journalists from the Teso and Karamoja sub regions toured Nabutone’s farm at the invitation of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The tour of model farms in the country was promised by the president while engaging with the local journalists in an attempt to sharpen their mindset towards embracing the four-acre model farming practice.
Nabutone said she hopes to complete her new piggery house and expand the project in a few months.
The journalists embarked on the tour on Monday, December 16th, 2024, from the Amudat and Nakapiripirit districts. On Tuesday, the journalists also toured the model farm of Joseph Ijala in Serere district.
In Amudat, they visited the goat rearing project started by Amos Rembus Kolinyang using PDM farm and a piggery project in Nakapiripirit district owned by Emmanuel Losike Lokong with the support of the PDM money.
