The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control under the Ministry of Internal Affairs has a temporary breakdown of services due to a fiber cable cut at the ministry headquarters.

This was revealed in a public notice dated December 13, 2023, by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer.

“We would like to inform the public that there has been an internet fiber cut at the ministry headquarters, which has caused a temporary breakdown of our services,” the notice read.

According to Simon Peter Mundeyi, the public relations officer at the ministry, the breakdown has affected service at all their centers, which include passport services, immigration services like work permits, special passes, dependent passes, certificates of residence, and student pass processing, among others.

“The affected centers are at the headquarters, regional offices, missions, and embassies,” Mundeyi said.

He stated that the technical teams are working tirelessly to ensure that normal services are restored as soon as possible.

On October 30, 2023, the directorate of citizenship and immigration control closed passport collection offices in Kyambogo due to a damaged fiber optic cable that adversely affected the system.
