Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi has urged the Uganda Police Force retirees to maintain the discipline they acquired during their days in the force even in retirement.
He said this while presiding over the retirement ceremony of 233 police officers, including 56 senior officers, held at the Police headquarters in Naguru on December 12, 2023.
“We appreciate that you have completed your journey and are leaving service. Retirement is a stage in life; now go and integrate into society. You’ve done your part, and we’re proud of you; please maintain your discipline,” Katsigazi said.
While commending their contributions, Katsigazi emphasized the importance of avoiding detrimental associations and urged them to remain disciplined and uphold the values of the police force.
He encouraged them to utilize their acquired expertise for positive change within their communities, specifically highlighting the role they could play in tackling corruption and resolving disputes through their understanding of police policy and discipline.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a stable and stress-free life, he urged them to refrain from marrying many women, prioritize their families and avoid neglecting them in their post-retirement years.
The event served as a farewell to the retirees who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting their communities.
