The Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Amos Lugoloobi, has launched Uganda’s second Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), an international initative that promotes the transparent and accountable management of countries’ resources.

Lugoloobi launched the report on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

He said that experience from elsewhere shows that countries that are rich with natural resources transform best if they put in place measures to ensure proper utilization and management of their natural resources.

“It is therefore important for the country to develop a robust legal & institutional framework for the extractive industries sector to thrive & have lasting impact for the current & future generations,” Lugoloobi said.

The report details how Uganda has adhered to the EITI standard in terms of managing her extractive sector across the whole extractive industries value chain.
