Finance Trust Bank Boosts Women’s Football with a UGX 2B Investment

The Managing Director of Finance Trust Bank, Annet Nakawunde, handing over the Ugx 2B investment into women football to the President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association, Magogo Moses.

For 5 years, Finance Trust Bank has signed a Ugx 2 billion sponsorship deal with the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) in a bid to boost the women’s football league.

While addressing the media on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the bank headquarters at Twed Plaza, the President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association, Magogo Moses, revealed that the five-year partnership is meant to support the coming season of the Women’s Super and Elite Leagues.

He said that the association is thrilled to partner with an institution that supports the plight of women in football.

‘’Under this partnership, Finance Trust Bank is now the title sponsor of both the Finance Trust Women Super League and the Finance Women’s Elite League, and as FUFA, we are very excited about this partnership,’’ Magogo said.

Magogo added that the partnership is a move to encourage women to participate in the football sport.

Magogo pledged accountability and transparency to the new sponsors in exchange for their unwavering support of women’s football.

‘’We will continue putting these games live on FUFA TV and the radio to ensure that our partners receive visibility beyond those that are in the stadium,’’ Magogo added.

The Managing Director of Finance Trust Bank, Annet Nakawunde, said that UGX 1,700,000,000 will be going directly to FUFA over a period of four years, with the rest being spent on sponsorship activation.

She also mentioned that women will be able to acquire the loans as part of the special packages in the sponsorship if they are directed towards business.

“We want to start with financial literacy for anybody to make a decision to borrow, and whenever FUFA is ready with the ladies, we are going to train and mentor them before we can extend our products to them,” she stated.

The sponsorship package will see the league names change to Finance Trust Women’s Super League and Finance Trust Women’s Elite League, respectively.
