The Ugandan girl group, ‘Blu 3’ is set to perform at the 4th Africa Peace Concert 2025 on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

Appearing at a local television station in Kampala on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the all-female singing group (Cindy, Chandiru, and Lillian) said that it was an honour to be part of the music team that would be performing at the Africa Peace Concert.

The concert, which is spearheaded by the Rotary Club, seeks to raise USD 500,000 to build the Makerere Peace Centre, a hub for global peace builders.

According to Cindy, peace is very important for any society to thrive and crucial for the reunion of the Blu 3 after separating for 20 years.

‘’We are perfect for this event. We took a break from each other for about 20 years, and after 20 years we made peace to come back together,” Cindy said.

Chandiru said that the vision of Rotary is to create lasting change in the world and communities and also unite the people, noting that she was looking forward to supporting the initiative of the institution.

“Music, being an international language, I am sure that there are a lot of us who get to listen to it. We are very privileged to be part and parcel of this, and we are definitely on board to take part in this,” Chandiru said.

“We are here speaking as philanthropists, leaders, mothers, and advocates because we want a safer future for the future generation. This is not just about an event but something extremely personal because the future is what we are looking at right now,” Chandiru added.

More than 1,500 peace fellows from more than 115 countries have graduated from a Rotary Peace Centre since the program was created in 1999. The first peace centers began classes three years later. The curriculum at each peace centre has been carefully crafted to address specific aspects of the peace building process and train the next generation of global change-makers.

Currently, Rotary has seven peace centers in various locations around the world. The newest, at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda—the first in Africa—welcomed its inaugural cohort of peace fellows in 2021.
