The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned all heads of UCE centers against fraudsters who are extorting money from school administrators.

According to the board, these impersonators are claiming to be members of UNEB’s Security Committee and are falsely stating that candidates’ results may be cancelled due to suspected involvement in examination malpractice.

In a press statement released on February 7, 2025, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the board does not operate in the manner described by the fraudsters.

“Where there is a matter of concern, management will write officially to the affected schools. The security team has been informed, and the perpetrators are being tracked,” she said.

UNEB assured the public that such claims are entirely false and urged schools to remain vigilant, emphasizing that no school should ever be asked to pay money in exchange for preventing results from being withheld.

With the ongoing speculation of the release of UCE results, the Board confirmed that the results would not be released on Friday, February 7th.

“We want to inform the public that the 2024 UCE results shall not be released today, Friday, February 7th, as has been alleged on some platforms,” Kalule added.

However, it assured the public that the official release date would be communicated once UNEB receives confirmation from the Ministry of Education and Sports.

UNEB has reminded all heads of UCE centers to ensure that any outstanding financial obligations with the board are settled promptly.

“We wish to ask heads of UCE centers to ensure that they settle all outstanding invoices to avoid being inconvenienced by not accessing results at the time of release,” Kalule stated.

Schools are advised to review their portals to confirm if there are any unresolved financial commitments.
