Leaders in the Tororo Catholic Archdiocese have called upon Catholic women and mothers to emulate the works of Mother Mary as a right approach in challenges being encountered today in many families.

During a retreat at the Tororo Archdiocese with Tororo Catholic women on January 16, 2025, the leaders discuss marital issues and parenting.

Tororo Archbishop Rev. Fr. Kibiye emphasized that most Catholic mothers have gone against the rule of God of what Mother Mary did in the Bible by not imposing the real morals on their children.

“Mother Mary raised Jesus Christ with good morals amidst so many challenges, but she had never forsaken any possible challenges she faced. So dear mothers, do not give up,” Rev. Fr. Kibiye said.

Rev. Fr. Kibiye encouraged women to always reflect on Mother Mary and relate to their own experiences in life to avoid committing sin.

He also urged the women to always teach their children to know God and also survive without the absences of them, as Mother Mary in the Bible did.

Mary Asili, chairperson of Sow Kaiwja Parish Nagongera deanery, said that most of the women have been emancipated through several programs, like parish savings groups, which have helped to raise every woman’s life.

According to her, through these parish saving groups, the women have engaged in organic farming, and through the money got from saving, the group was able to pay school fees and have frequent visits to less privates for financial support.

The Tororo Archdiocese is a Roman Catholic Church located in Tororo, established in 1968 as a diocese and later elevated to archdiocese in 1999, covering present-day districts of Tororo, Busia, and parts of Bugiri and Butaleja.
