The Lwemiyaga County legislator Theodore Ssekikubo has accused the parliamentary security officials (Sergeant at Arms) of interfering with the ongoing collection of signatures to remove the commissioners.
MP Ssekikubo claimed the security officials have removed the table of records and chairs, which his team has been using to collect signatures for the censure motion.
He made the remarks while addressing journalists at Parliament on June 20, 2024.
“The officer who removed this table did it on their own to try to kill our motion, which we have not yet closed. I’m going to seek clarity from the speaker,” said Ssekikubo.
MP Asuman Basalirwa (Bugiri Municipality) dismissed Ssekikubo’s claim about the table of records being removed, stating that the Rules of Procedure do not require signatures on the censure motion to be collected solely at Parliament.
