President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has received the diplomatic credentials of five new ambassadors, marking the start of their official assignments in Uganda and setting the stage for closer cooperation between Uganda and their respective countries.

The envoys representing the United Arab Emirates, China, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany presented their Letters of Credence to President Museveni at State House Entebbe on Tuesda, September 1st, 2026.

The ceremony formally cleared the five diplomats to begin their assignments in Uganda, at a time when the country continues to seek stronger economic, political and diplomatic partnerships abroad.

Museveni welcomed the ambassadors and wished them success in their new roles, with the government expressing its readiness to work with them to expand areas of mutual interest and strengthen relations with their respective countries.

The new envoys are Fahad Abdulrahman Ali Al Bishr, Ambassador Designate of the United Arab Emirates; Wu Guangrong, Ambassador Designate of the People’s Republic of China; Angele van der Heijden-Samura, Ambassador Designate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Anna-Maria Olsson, Ambassador Designate of the Kingdom of Sweden; and Sigrid Ingelore Luise Sommer, Ambassador Designate of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Their arrival gives Uganda new diplomatic representation from five countries with significant interests in areas ranging from trade and investment to development cooperation, technology and political engagement.

The government said it expects to work closely with the envoys to deepen bilateral ties, widen cooperation and strengthen longstanding bonds of friendship between Uganda and the five countries.

The ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vincent Bagiire Waiswa, and Ambassador Henry Mayega.
