President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended heartfelt birthday wishes to his wife, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, as she turns 77 today, June 24, 2025.

In a warm message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, President Museveni described Maama Janet as both the cornerstone of their family and a dedicated servant of the nation.

“I am pleased to share that today, June 24th, marks the 77th birthday of my dear wife Ginga (grandmother), Mummy (mother), Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni,” the President wrote, extending warm greetings to “all the Musevenis, the Basiita, the Bayoombo, the Bazzukulu of Uganda, and all fellow Ugandans.”

The President expressed gratitude to God for Maama Janet’s life and prayed for her continued health and strength.

“On behalf of many, I congratulate her and praise the Almighty God for giving her a long life,” he stated.

Reflecting on her role during Uganda’s 1981–1986 liberation struggle, President Museveni highlighted her strength and resilience as a mother.

“Maama has been the pillar of our family, especially between 1981 and 1986, when she was the sole parent to the young Musevenis. Diana was only six months old in 1981,” he revealed.

He also acknowledged her spiritual, social, economic, and political contributions to Uganda, including her founding of Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) and her political leadership in Ruhaama County.

“She has made significant contributions to the spiritual, social, economic, and political lives of Ugandans,” he added.

The president closed his message with a note of deep appreciation:

“Praised be the Lord for her life and contribution,” signing off as Omugurusi (Old Man), Yoweri K. Museveni, Ampa (Grandpa).”

Their daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire, also shared a heartfelt message:

“Maama, we love you deeply. You are a true reflection of God’s grace in our lives. We, your children, call you blessed. May your 77th year be even more wonderful than all those before. Blessings, Mummy.”
