Pope Appoints Rev. Fr. Rupiny New Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese

Prior to his appointment, Rev. Fr. Rupiny has been serving as the Rector of Uganda Martyrs National Major Seminary Alokolum in Gulu.

Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Dr. Constantine Rupiny as the new Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.

The announcement was made by the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Luigi Bianco, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Prior to his appointment, Rev. Fr. Rupiny has been serving as the Rector of Uganda Martyrs National Major Seminary Alokolum in Gulu.

He is taking the mantle from Rt. Rev. Raphael P’mony Wokorach, who was in March 2024 appointed the new Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese.

“The Apostolic Nunciature in Uganda has the pleasure to announce that on 26th November 2024, His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi, the Rev. Fr. Constantine Rupiny, of the clergy of the same Diocese of Nebbi, Rector of the Uganda Martyrs Major Seminary Alokolum, Gulu,” part of the statement read.

Born on November 10, 1974, at Parambo in Nebbi Diocese, Rev. Fr. Constantine Rupiny also served as assistant priest at Kango Parish, parish priest of Akanyo Parish, and vice chairman of the Priests’ Council of Nebbi Diocese.

Ordained on August 28, 2024, Rupiny obtained a Licentiate in philosophy at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome and a Licentiate and Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszy’nski in Warsaw, Poland.
