PFF’s Lulume Argues Ugandans to Consider Opposition Candidates in LC I Elections

“We appeal to the people in different villages to elect the opposition candidates who will deliver service accordingly. In the areas where we don't have candidates as PFF, we appeal to you not to vote for anyone who is aligned with our opponents, such as the NRM and PLU, because of what they have caused in this nation,” Lulume said.

The Deputy Executive Chairperson of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Party, Lulume Bayiga, has appealed to Ugandans to support opposition candidates in the forthcoming Local Council I elections, accusing those in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) of mismanaging the country.

According to Lulume, candidates who subscribe to the ruling party will not deliver justice to the people, as they are willing to promote the interests of their top leaders, who aim to inflict harm on the common people.

“We appeal to the people in different villages to elect the opposition candidates who will deliver service accordingly. In the areas where we don’t have candidates as PFF, we appeal to you not to vote for anyone who is aligned with our opponents, such as the NRM and PLU, because of what they have caused in this nation,” Lulume said.

Lulume made the remarks while addressing journalists on Monday, July 6th, 2026, at the PFF party headquarters on Katonga Road in Kampala.

Lulume alleged that NRM and PLU may have bad intentions, which people may avoid by ignoring them as they vote for opposition candidates who protect the will of the common man.

“Therefore have directed our leaders at the grassroots level to ensure that people are guided well in the voting process for the Local Council 1 chairpersons and also to cooperate with others who are pursuing the same cause,” he said.

Moses Tugume, the PFF party Attorney General, asked the public to focus on supporting candidates who can serve them rather than focusing on the arrests and statements being made by those in government to divert people from the main cause.

According to the Electoral Commission (EC), the polling day for the Local Council One (LC I) Chairperson elections in Uganda is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th, 2026.
