The King of Tooro, His Royal Majesty Edward Rukiidi Nyabongo I has named a few individuals who will be helping him run the kingdom among them is the position of Musuuga, prime minister and senior advisors on different matters
In a press release dated October 5th, 2026, read by the King’s Principal Private Secretary, Paul Nyakaana Businge, the king chose a few individuals for an interim period as the kingdom transitions from the old leadership to the new leadership headed by Omukama Edward Rukiidi Nyabongo I.
“Rukirabasaija Omukama has appointed Prince Charles Kayondo Kamurasi to the position of Musuuga deputized by Kato Rwakatale, also Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire to the position of acting Muhikirwa for a period of six months to facilitate transition,” Nyakaana said.

Nyakaana also noted that the king had appointed 11 other members as an interim advisory committee to help the king on different issues.
“The team includes Erisa Kakyomya, Chris Kaijuka, Bernerd Tungwako, Msgr Isaiah Mayombo, Peace Mutuuzo, Ritah Kasojjo, Flavia Kabahenda, Abudallah Mangaraji, William Byaruhanga, Aston Kajara and Monica Rubombora,” Nyakana added.
With the Musuuga, Prime Minister and advisory team on board, the kingdom is set to start on different projects some likely to be the continuation of the old projects started by the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV while some could be fresh projects as the new king deems so.
Omukama Edward Rukiidi Nyabongo I, a son to Prince Christopher Paul Kiijanangoma and a grandson of Omukama George David Kamurasi Rukiidi ascended to the throne on September 29th, 2026, after the death of his cousin King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV who succumbed to cancer at the age of 34 in the United states.
The new Omukama was warmly welcomed by the Tooro Kingdom subjects and if the support showed to him during days to his coronation and days after is to go by, Tooro kingdom is destined for greater heights.
