The Archbishop of the Province of Church of Uganda, Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has encouraged Christians not to be afraid, but to remain steadfast in their journey of faith, embracing sacrifice and spiritual growth.
During his tour of the Namugongo Anglican Shrine on Sunday, 1st June, 2025, ahead of the annual Martyrs’ Day celebrations, Archbishop Kaziimba emphasized that God has the power to transform lives, no matter how hopeless a situation may seem.
Reflecting on the legacy of the Uganda Martyrs, he noted, “Their executors thought it was the end, but the end of the rope is not the end of hope. God is still working. He remains our God, the King of Kings, the Master of Masters.”
He called on believers to seek renewal, reconciliation, and revival, noting that true spiritual growth requires commitment, doing good, and living sacrificially.

“Never lose hope. Never give in to those who want you to abandon your faith. Never deny your faith, because that is not the end of the story. Your suffering is not the end. The end of the rope is not the end of hope!W e are here to be encouraged by the martyrs. This is a journey of repentance, a journey of faith, a journey of sacrifice. We are learning and growing. And when all is done, you can be revived, renewed, filled, rebuilt, recommitted, and resuscitated,” said Archbishop Dr. Kaziimba.
The Archbishop was joined by Rt. Rev. Godfrey Loum, Chairperson of the Martyrs’ Day Organizing Committee, and Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng.
“Hebrews 12 reminds us that we have a great crowd of witnesses, those who suffered, those who went through hard times, those whose tormentors wanted to destroy them completely. But to God be the glory! What was meant for evil has today become a testimony. Look at the crowds gathered here, this is a message: you cannot wipe away what God has created. You cannot fight God. However hard you try, your efforts are all in vain,” Dr.Kaziima said while delivering sermons to the congregation.
The delegation toured the Namugongo Anglican Martyrs Museum and reviewed final preparations for the June 3rd celebration.
Archbishop Kaziimba applauded the Northern Cluster team for their exemplary organization and dedication in ensuring a meaningful celebration.
