The National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary for Mobilization, Habib Buwembo has said that the Robert Kyagulanyi day celebrations for October will be bigger and better, with a more digital reach compared to the first one.
While addressing the press at the party headquarters at Makerere Kavule on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, Buwembo said that this time it will be more of a digital celebration where all activities will be captured and videos and photos will be shared on all social media platforms for the whole world to know and celebrate with Ugandans the contribution of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to the struggle of Uganda.
“On Robert Kyagulanyi day, which will always be the first Sunday of the month, we shall feed the poor, help the disabled, help the widows, and as we are doing all this we shall be wearing our Bobi Wine t-shirts, take photos or videos and share them on different social media platforms,” Buwembo said.
When asked why Celebrate Kyagulanyi day, Buwembo said that many people have been celebrated when they are dead but now they have a chance to celebrate their role model when still a live as also a way of motivating him to do more for the struggle.
“Kyagulanyi has sacrificed a lot for the struggle and when we see all this we decided to appreciate him when still alive and not dead so that we can thank him when he is alive, just like Martyrs Day, Heroes Day, Jonan Luwum Day, all celebrated after they are dead. So we decided to celebrate our people when they are still alive such that they can also add more efforts knowing they are going to be appreciated,” Buwembo added.
John Bosco Sserunkuma, the Nansana Municipality Mayor called upon the media to use the opportunity and broadcast Robert Kyagulanyi’s contribution to the struggle to liberate Uganda.
“For the media, we know you have a lot of footage of Robert Kyagulanyi advocating for the rights of Ugandans. Let’s use this day to publish and play all that footage of President Kyagulanyi advocating and fighting for a better Uganda,” Sserunkuma noted.
According to the organisers, the October month celebrations will feature a football match between NUP foot soldiers and NUP secretariat leadership at Kitebi Primary school Playgrounds in Rubaga south division starting at 3:00 pm and also a series of events across the country including Charity donations in Karamoja region, Mass for President Kyagulanyi and all other activists in Wakiso, football friendly matches in Mbarara, Kasese, Iganga, Jinja, Luwero and all over the country.
The organisers added that for those un able to attend the general events can post a video or photo while wearing a t-shirt of Kyagulanyi in appreciation for his contribution to the struggle for a better Uganda.
