The opposition Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) Party has rallied Ugandans to use the lent period to pray for peaceful general elections in 2026.

Sharon Oyat Arach, the party spokesperson, on Wednesday, 12th March 2025, during a media briefing at Uganda House, asked both the Christian and Muslim communities to dedicate this fasting season to pray for the country during the 2026 elections.

Arach’s remarks come at a time when Ugandans are preparing for the 2026 elections, with candidates already gearing up for nominations for different positions.
