The titular head of the Ugandan Muslim community, Prince Kassim Nakibinge, has urged Ugandans to remain calm and peaceful as the country heads toward the 2026 general elections.
Nakibinge made these remarks while addressing the press on Monday, December, 22nd 2025, at his residence in Kibuli shortly after meeting the National Unity Platform (NUP) top leadership headed by the party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
“I would love to thank the NUP leadership for checking on me and as we head into the 2026 general elections I would also want to urge all Ugandans to remain calm and peaceful as we head into these elections,” Nakibinge said.
However, Nakibinge tasked the security forces to act professionally and maintain law and order, warning against a repeat of violence witnessed during recent by-elections.
“All security forces should be able to provide security without bias so that we don’t see any loss of life. We also want to ask the electoral commission to try its best to have a free and fair election,” Nakibinge added.
NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi praised Prince Nakibinge for always speaking up for the voiceless and always adding his voice to call out the human rights abuse in Uganda.
“We came to meet the prince to appreciate him for speaking out for the voiceless and talking about those who are being oppressed and political prisoners,” Kyagulanyi said.
The NUP party president and presidential candidate, assured Prince Nakibinge that his party is committed to bringing positive change to the country.
“We also promise that we shall be good listeners and whatever has not been good we promise to change. We shall uphold all values and promise a better leadership,” Kyagulanyi added.
Kyagulanyi, who is campaigning in Makindye East and Makindye West, described the closed-door meeting with Prince Nakibinge as fruitful, focusing on peace, leadership, and national unity.
