President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni arrived in Isingiro District on Thursday, 27th November 2025 with the energy of a man on a mission and the crowd responded in kind, roaring as if the Ankole sun itself had joined the rally.
Launching his Ankole sub-region campaign at the Isingiro district headquarters, the NRM Presidential Candidate wasted no time issuing his trademark mixture of directives, pledges, and fatherly scolding with a dash of humour that sent supporters cheering.

Pointing at the vast fields around Isingiro, President Museveni said; “You cannot continue doing village farming in a district that is basically the banana capital of Uganda. We must modernize.”
Museveni’s biggest directive of the day was clear: Isingiro farmers must embrace irrigation full stop.
He urged them to benchmark from the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development in Bushenyi, describing it as the university of serious banana people.
Museveni pledged full government support to help farmers adopt improved land management techniques in the next term, promising more water-for-production interventions.
“Rain can betray you, but irrigation won’t unless you fall asleep while turning the tap,” Museveni said.
How President Museveni was received in Isingiro district on Thursday.
In classic Museveni style, he mixed sternness with humour while warning residents against encroaching on wetlands and riverbanks, particularly around Rivers Rwizi and Kagera.
“If you disturb those wetlands, they will also disturb your harvests,” he quipped.
He stressed the ecological importance of these water bodies and their connection to long-term agricultural success.
The NRM candidate announced that Isingiro is next in line for major road upgrades, promising to tarmac key feeder routes to boost trade and ease access to markets.
Among the priority roads, he highlighted: Kitagate–Kitwe–Miramar Hills Road, Kabingo, and Rwekubo–Rugaga–Rwangabo–Endinzi–Rakai–Mutukula Road
He reminded supporters that several major roads have already been completed, forming what he called “the road network of prosperity.”
Museveni reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening free education, urging parents to support government schools.
“Don’t fear free education, it doesn’t reduce the child’s brain power,” he joked, drawing laughter from parents.
Emphasizing household prosperity, the President promoted the four-acre model, urging families to choose high-value enterprises suitable for their land size.
He outlined job opportunities emerging from commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services and ICT, noting that national industrialization is opening new employment doors.
Large-scale agriculture projects, including palm-oil production, were mentioned as examples of ventures lifting household incomes.
“Money doesn’t chase lazy people. Organize yourselves, use government funds wisely, and wealth will look for you like a lost relative,” Museveni said.
Museveni also reminded residents of the stability the NRM restored in the region, calling on them to safeguard current gains by supporting NRM leadership.
He urged households to adopt productive enterprises, avoid risky land practices, and position themselves for the coming wave of development projects.
Closing his Isingiro rally, the President left supporters laughing and inspired:
“Use your land well, get rich, and don’t wait for miracles. Even God helps those who first help their gardens!”
With that, the crowd thundered, and the Ankole campaign trail rolled on with humour, ambition, and a renewed push for irrigation at its core.
The president later proceeded to Ntungamo district he equally rallied residents to embrace commercial agriculture using government support.
