President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on residents in the Greater Mpigi sub-region to focus on wealth creation through the Four-Acre Model, saying the government is committed to supporting households to join the money economy.

The President made the remarks during a three-day wealth creation tour that kicked off Monday, 16th June 2025, in Mpigi District before heading to Butambala and Gomba.
The tour, part of ongoing nationwide mobilization efforts, is aimed at popularizing government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and supporting exemplary farmers.
In Mpigi district, Kamengo Sub-county, Museveni visited the farm of Hajji Muhamad Zziwa in Salinya B village, a model farmer who operates a five-acre mixed farm with poultry (over 2,000 birds), coffee, banana plantations, and four cows.
Impressed by his efforts, the President donated a solar-powered water pump to aid irrigation, Shs12 million for purchasing more cows, a double-cabin pickup truck to transport animal feeds, Shs6 million to the LC1 Chairperson Mr Patrick Ssenabulya for a motorcycle,
Other supports were Shs6 million to a Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) supporter, and Shs1 million each to 10 PDM beneficiaries present.
Museveni reiterated his call to shift from subsistence to commercial farming, urging communities to make use of government resources.
“This wealth creation campaign is not for mere consumption. It is for transforming lives and getting families into the money economy,” he said.
In Butambala District, the President visited Rashida Namubiru, a PDM beneficiary from Kasaka village, Gombe Town Council.

Namubiru, a mother of eight, received Shs1 million under PDM in September 2023 and invested in goats, coffee, and bananas. She now owns eight goats, a cow, and several plantations.
As a reward for her progress, the President offered her Shs12 million for transport, Three acres of land, and a solar-powered irrigation system for her farm.
The local LC1 Chairperson was also supported with Shs6 million, while 10 additional PDM beneficiaries each received Shs1 million.
In Gomba District, Museveni toured the farm of Deborah Namutebi, a PDM beneficiary based in Lusenke Village, Kanoni Town Council. Namutebi rears 300 broilers and 13 goats on a six-acre farm.
She was supported with Shs12 million for a tricycle, Shs3.5 million to connect electricity to her farm, and three acres of land.
The President used the tour to highlight government support for grassroots transformation and warned local leaders against mismanagement of funds.
“We are supporting those who are serious. But I caution you against corruption, it will not be tolerated,” he said.
The President is expected to address a leaders’ meeting in Butambala District on Tuesday, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilization and oversight of government programs.
