Celebrating 37 Years of Service: Rev. Fr. Balthazar Ndyomugabe Honored for Devoted Priesthood in Kigezi

Thousands gathered at St. Francis College Kyanamira grounds in Kabale District to celebrate Rev. Fr. Balthazar Ndyomugabe’s remarkable 37 years of dedicated priesthood. The special Mass highlighted his impactful journey and the profound influence he has had on the Kabale Diocese, touching countless lives through his spiritual leadership.

Congregants described Fr. Ndyomugabe’s tenure as one marked by dedication, spirituality, and compassion.

As the chief guest, Col. Emmy Katabazi, Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), praised Fr. Ndyomugabe for his incredible commitment to his calling, community, and faith.

“What sets Fr Ndyomugabe apart is his extraordinary ability to transcend religious boundaries and collaborate harmoniously with various faith-based groups. His leadership has been a pillar of hope and unity earning him the respect and admiration of religious leaders from diverse backgrounds. Pastors, reverends, and Muslim leaders can attest to his tireless efforts in championing the welfare of all God’s people,” said Col Katabazi.

In a show of support, Col. Katabazi presented a cash gift of UGX 5 million to aid in the construction of the priest’s house in Kyanamira, Fr. Ndyomugabe’s home area.

Ndorwa East MP Wilfred Niwagaba praised Ndyomugabe for leading God’s people and contributing to their prosperity while Kabale District Woman MP Catherine Ndamira recognized his diligence and commitment stating, “Your service has been an inspiration and a blessing to many.”

Former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda in his message also acknowledged Ndyomugabe’s dedication, noting his advocacy for development and reconciliation within the community.

In his speech, Fr. Ndyomugabe expressed gratitude to God for His kindness throughout his priestly journey.

“The Lord our God has been good to me with His kindness and mercy, which has brought me joy and happiness in this celebration,” he said.

Fr. Ndyomugabe extended his appreciation to the congregation and the community for their dedicated support and efforts in organizing the celebratory function. He thanked all who contributed financially and dedicated their time to ensure the event’s success.

Since his ordination in 1987, Fr. Ndyomugabe has served in various capacities within the Kabale Diocese, including roles such as assistant priest at Rutoma and Rwanyena Parishes, priest at Butogota, Christ the King Parish in Kabale, Makiro, and Rushoroza Cathedral. His extensive service record also includes significant roles in justice and peace initiatives, health programs, and community development.

To honor his service, the congregation generously contributed hundreds of gifts and pledged support for the priest’s house construction. Notable contributions included 100 bags of cement from MP Wilfred Niwagaba and over UGX 24 M in cash from leaders and community members in the Kigezi region.

Fr. Ndyomugabe’s legacy of service and dedication continues to inspire many, reinforcing the importance of compassion and community uplift in the priesthood.
