Uganda’s youngest rapper and singer, Patrick Ssenyonjo alias Fresh Kid has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to study at Hana international school Uganda(HASU) a school that offers both UNEB and the Cambridge curriculum. This remarkable opportunity will enable the talented 14-year-old to pursue his academic dreams while nurturing his music career.
In a video making rounds on social media and You Tube, Fresh Kid thanked the Senior Presidential advisor on Gender and Youth Affairs Nakiwala Kiyingi who fulfilled her last year’s pledge by securing for him a free full six – year scholarship secondary education at the international school.
“I want to thank Maama Hon Nakiwala Kiyingi for securing for me a bursary in this school. I thank the school staff for the warm welcome and feel comfortable in this school. I promise to be a good child and perform well. I will not give the administration a headache,” Fresh Kid said.
Under the new arrangement, he will be allowed to perform weekend shows like he did during his primary education so as to balance both his education and music career.
Fresh Kid scored an impressive first grade with 11 aggregates in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) which he sat at Kampala Parents School supported through a scholarship from the Ruparelia Foundation.
The ‘Tozikiza’ rapper will access top-notch education, enabling him to develop his skills and knowledge while studying at HASU which will expose him to diverse cultures, broadening his perspective and inspiring his music and also an opportunity to connect with students and faculty from around the world, potentially leading to future collaborations and career advancements.
Fresh Kid’s achievement serves as a powerful reminder that talent, dedication, and hard work overcome adversity. His story inspires young Ugandans to pursue their passions and strive for excellence.
Born and raised in Kasana located in Luweero district Fresh Kid rose to fame at just 7 years old with his catchy lyrics and energetic performances. His rapid ascent in the music industry has inspired countless young Ugandans, cementing his status as a role model.
He is known for his songs like Tozikiza , Banteka , Bambi ,Victim, Tip Tap, Omuzadde , Endongo, Tweyanze , Taki Taki Cover, Sibiriimu, Kuno Ghetto and many others.
