The appointment comes after the President nominated Kisekka to replace the previous minister-designate for the position, Dr. Lawrence Muganga, following concerns over his cited multiple citizenships, which contradict the Uganda's Constitution.
The EC chairperson noted that the Commission has already undertaken extensive preparations for the elections, including voter registration, the display of the national voters' register, and other polling day arrangements.
