Karamoja is a region situated in the North-Eastern part of Uganda close to the border of Sudan and Kenya. It is made up of nine districts including Amudat, Nakapiripirit, Moroto, Abim, Kaabong, Napak, Nabilatuk, Karenga and Kotido.

A visit to Karamoja is a must for anyone desiring to see an undefiled and wild African culture. It is a great holiday destination for anyone trying to get away from the much trodden places of Uganda.

Starting from the Karamoja Museum with its centuries-old fossil exhibits, the scenic Mount Moroto, Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve with its abundance of flora and fauna, or the famous eco-friendly Manyattas-the traditional home setting of the Karamojong.

Well, it’s no doubt that Karamoja offers a myriad of attractions to tourists but above all, the contrast between its authentic culture mixed with a touch of an ancient Africa and its adoption of the modern life dynamics, gives the region an edge as an intriguing destination for every tourist whether domestic or international.

Whether your vote goes for Kidepo Valley National Park in Kaabong District, Mount Kadam in Nakapiripirit District, Matheniko Wildlife Reserve in Moroto District, Narus River in Kaabong District, Bokora Wildlife Reserve or the rich Karamojong Culture, Karamoja should be on your ‘to visit’ list.

Take a weekend off and visit the Karamoja region and get a chance to explore the beauty of culture fused with wildlife and nature adventurous safaris.
