The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has showcased the Ankole cattle experience as part of efforts to promote Uganda’s rich cultural heritage and position it as a unique tourism product.
The initiative saw UTB Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa join the Miss Tourism Ankole Queens for an Ankole cattle milking session at Ankole Destination on July 22nd, 2026.
According to UTB, the activity was held to celebrate one of Uganda’s most iconic cultural traditions while highlighting the importance of preserving the country’s heritage and growing the tourism industry.
The board said the cattle milking experience was more than a hands-on cultural activity, noting that it demonstrated the role every Ugandan can play in safeguarding the country’s heritage and supporting tourism development.
The board also said the visit formed part of its efforts to position the Ankole cattle heritage as a distinctive tourism product by showcasing the unique cultural experiences associated with the iconic Ankole long-horned cattle.
According to UTB, promoting such cultural attractions is intended to showcase Uganda’s rich heritage, diversify the country’s tourism offerings and attract more domestic and international visitors.
The Miss Tourism Ankole Queens participated in the experience as ambassadors of cultural tourism, helping to promote the traditions and heritage of the Ankole region while encouraging greater appreciation of Uganda’s diverse cultural attractions.
