Uganda’s renowned dance troupe, the Ghetto Kids, have made their mark in football and entertainment history after performing alongside global superstars Shakira and Burna Boy during the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
The Kampala-based dancers took to the stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday, July 19th, 2026, during the halftime break of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, delivering the biggest performance of their careers before a global television audience of millions.
Dressed in striking bright orange outfits, the Ghetto Kids brought their trademark energy and choreography to a spectacular production that fused Latin pop, Afrobeats and contemporary dance. Performing alongside Shakira and Burna Boy, the Ugandan troupe captivated fans with a vibrant display that celebrated music, culture and diversity.
The groundbreaking halftime show also featured appearances by international entertainment icons including Justin Bieber, Madonna and members of BTS, transforming the World Cup final into a global celebration that extended far beyond football.
In the days leading up to the final, the Ghetto Kids rehearsed extensively with Shakira and Burna Boy. The invitation marked the culmination of months of excitement after Shakira personally asked the Ghetto Kids to join her performance of Dai Dai, the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which also features Burna Boy. The Colombian superstar was impressed by the group’s viral dance routines to the song, paving the way for their appearance on one of the world’s biggest entertainment stages.

They later became finalists on Britain’s Got Talent after earning the coveted Golden Buzzer in 2023, cementing their place on the global stage.
While Spain ultimately defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win their second FIFA World Cup title thanks to Ferran Torres’ decisive goal in the 106th minute, it was also a night that belonged to the Ghetto Kids as they once again proved that extraordinary dreams can become reality.
