Police in Nakapiripirit District through intelligence led operations have successfully rescued five children aged between 16-17 years from suspected traffickers.

Mike Longole, the Mt Moroto regional Spokesperson revealed that the victims were intercepted at Nakoye village within Namalu Sub-county in Nakapiripirit District on December 27, 2024,at around 1:30pm.

Longole explained that efforts to identify and arrest the culprits is ongoing as investigation continues.

However, he added that security personnel will keep conducting quick checks in many dispersed locations in an effort to rescue trafficking victims and apprehend offenders in order to fight the crime.

This rescue underscores joint security efforts in combating trafficking in persons that has seen a big numbers of children from Karamoja sub Region languishing in the streets of Kampala and others as far as Nairobi.
